Plein Wild

Plein Wild is an outdoor exhibition to be held at Fontainebleau State Park, built around the art of careful noticing. Each artist featured in the show was tasked with contributing work inspired by the park and our state’s natural landscape.

With a diverse, rich landscape filled with a vast variety of flora and fauna, it is easy to be inspired. The most beautiful part of taking in inspiration from a place so abundant is that, no matter how many times you look or who is looking, there is always something new to notice.

Like a portal or a frame, this pendant invites you to look through and find your own inspiration in the natural world around you. Icons of the Fontainebleau landscape wrap the round frame like friends of the park, welcoming you into a precious place that belongs to all of us.

Plein Wild Exhibition

To be held October 22–24 from 10 AM to 4 PM each day, Plein Wild will feature four Louisiana artists showing work inspired by the park and our state’s natural landscape, including plein-air painting, Gyotaku, preserved botanicals, and lost-wax cast jewelry.

In addition to the exhibition, the artists have collaborated to create a limited collection of 50 bags filled with small works and keepsakes inspired by the park. These bags will be available for purchase at the park, with proceeds benefiting Fontainebleau State Park.

MIMOSA will also be donating 50% of sales from the first 50 Plein Wild Pendants sold to Fontainebleau State Park.

The work will be displayed outdoors, turning the landscape itself into the gallery. Pieces will be available for purchase directly through the individual artists.
