Visiting the Tucson Gem & Mineral Show

In early February 2025, Dawson and Andrew headed west to visit the Tucson Gem & Mineral Show.

Watch: "Tur Quest" — Get a behind-the-scenes look at Dawson and Andrew's visit to the Tucson Gem & Mineral Show, and hear from Dawson and Jonathan McKinney (a wildly talented jeweler) as they discuss design, sourcing turquoise, and work-life balance.
For years, MIMOSA has worked with Jonathan in one way or another in the jewelry world. He's been an incredible resource along the way, particularly when it comes to sourcing stones. If you own a Mother Tree Ring or a Greta Cuff, chances are the stones have passed through his hands. View Jonathan's personal work.

Tucson Gem and Mineral Show 2025

What is the Tucson Gem & Mineral Show?

The Tucson Gem & Mineral Show is an annual event showcasing all kinds of gems and minerals from around in the world. In fact, the show is the largest of its kind internationally and brings together everyone from the hobbyist to the retailer.
It's name is no stranger in the world of jewelry either. In February 2026, the Tucson Gem & Mineral Society will be hosting its 71st show!
During the week, visitors can shop both raw and polished materials, explore museum collections on display, attend lectures and seminars, and more. There's even something for the kids. Find more info on field trips and children's events.

The Tucson Gem & Mineral Society Mission:

"To encourage interest and study in geology, mineralogy, lapidary, and allied earth sciences."

The 2025 show was MIMOSA's first time visiting, and Dawson and Andrew didn't come back empty-handed. In early February, they flew to Tucson and met up with Jonathan to tackle the show together.

Turquoise deposits are found around the world. Here in the United States, it particularly thrives in the Southwest region. So it only made sense to head to a hub and find some turquoise to take back home. (Like Christmas for this turquoise-loving team.)

Some particularly special turquoise finds have become one-of-a-kind pieces. Some you've seen, some you haven't just yet. ;)
