Explore The Curio at MIMOSA Handcrafted
After months of working behind the scenes, The Curio finally opened in early October 2026. It’s an expansion of the MIMOSA Shoppe, but with a new concept.
Alongside one-of-a-kind MIMOSA pieces, you’ll find work from independent jewelers and artists we love, vintage pieces we’ve collected, our favorite finds from nature, and beautiful things we can't wait to share with you.

The Curio is an ever-changing part jewelry gallery, part cabinet of curiosities, part treasure hunt.
The Curio: Meet the Artists
Roots Floral Preservation
Artist: Ashley Ferguson
Ashley Ferguson is a biologist by training whose background in wildlife and fisheries shapes her nature-rooted work through Roots Floral Preservation.
She preserves meaningful flowers and the memories tied to them, transforming them into lasting pieces that honor the people, places, and moments they came from.

Artist: Jonathan McKinney
Jonathan McKinney is a talented jeweler and longtime friend of MIMOSA whose generosity and expertise have helped shape the business from the beginning.
Beyond creating beautiful work of his own, Jonathan has spent years helping the MIMOSA team source stones, solve problems, and grow their craft.

Artist: Catherine Rouchon
Catherine Rouchon is the Louisiana artist behind Compass Rose Jewelry Designs, creating one-of-a-kind sterling silver jewelry with natural stones, organic minerals, and freshwater pearls.
A graduate gemologist, silversmith, and lapidary artist, Catherine often cuts and polishes her own stones, drawing inspiration from the landscapes, wildlife, and travels that shape her work.

Artist: Tom Lorio
Tom Lorio is a Baton Rouge jeweler and teacher with more than 50 years of experience making by hand and sharing what he knows.
An early mentor to MIMOSA, Tom helped Madeline learn foundational metal-smithing skills in the same welcoming studio where generations of makers have learned to experiment, make mistakes, and create.

Artist: Tiffanie Staples Lasseigne
Tiffanie Staples Lasseigne is the artist behind Ornement Artisan Jewelry, creating handcrafted pieces in Baton Rouge with semi-precious gemstones and Czech glass beads.
She and MIMOSA have spent years working markets side by side, with one especially sweet Louisiana connection: Madeline’s Mawmaw Jackie was Tiffanie’s first-grade teacher!

Artist: Donna May Blanco
Donna May Blanco is the artist behind The Bead Wolf, creating small-batch beaded jewelry inspired by vintage textiles, folk art, music, wild things, and nature.
A longtime friend of MIMOSA and part of our team for more than five years, Donna brings wit, imagination, and a distinctly handmade spirit to every piece she creates.

The Curio + Meddlesome Maddie
My grandmother called me "Meddlesome Maddie" for as long as I can remember. Her house was like one giant curiosity cabinet, and I couldn't help myself but meddle.
There was a never-ending supply of cool shells, rocks, treasures from travels, trinkets with stories, and handmade things from artists whose work was worth supporting.
My great-aunt Olga had one of those curiosity-cabinet houses too, even more eclectic, even more fun to meddle in.
She had an eccentric taste that felt wonderfully foreign to a little Louisiana girl: African animal-skin rugs, Japanese jewelry boxes, art and furniture you only gather over a lifetime of fascinating stories.
The Curio was created in that same spirit.
A collection of beautiful, curious, storied things, some made by us, some found along the way, and some made by fellow artists whose work we're honored to share.
And just like those houses, The Curio will never really be finished. We'll keep adding to it as we find new treasures, new artists, and new stories worth sharing.
We hope you have as much fun meddling in The Curio as we had curating it.
