This pelican collection lived in my mind for years before we could cast it into something physical, something I could hold in my hand, something we could wear. I was making jewelry, but my skillset and equipment kept me limited to very small two-dimensional.
This pelican, though, wouldn’t leave me alone. For years, I sketched, dreamt, sculpted, and tried to bring it to life however I could. Years later, when we finally had the equipment and barely the know-how to begin lost wax casting, the pelican was the first piece I’d carve and bring to three-dimensional form.
The pelican is a symbol of home, for sure, for any Louisianan, but also a symbol of homecoming. They leave in early spring and glide back in early fall, and we all collectively feel a shift in our spirits to another season, a recognition of time passed, a welcoming of what’s to come, and a time to sit and watch and be with our feathered friends.
The cuff measures about 1-1/4" tall.
The SMALL size measures approximately 7" in circumference including a 1" gap to slip it on, while the MEDIUM is approximately 7-3/4" in circumference including a 1" gap to slip it on.
Want to add a little bling to your pelican? Be sure to add a Turquoise or Birthstone Eye above!
Made by hand in our south Louisiana studio.
Each piece varies slightly due to its handmade nature.
MIMOSA bracelets are slightly adjustable. The first time you put your new bracelet on, adjust it one time to a size that slips on and off comfortably.
Our jewelry is solid cast metal, so repeated adjusting can cause it to break!
