In 2017, we asked the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank how we could best help at its lowest donation time of the year - "peanut butter" was the answer.
We've been collecting peanut butter for the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank every summer since. See the results of this year's Peanut Butter Drive below!
MIMOSA's Baton Rouge Peanut Butter Drive — The Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank
The Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank is a nonprofit organization in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Did you know? — The BR Food Bank serves an 11-parish area in the state. Those parishes include:
- Ascension
- Assumption
- East Baton Rouge
- East Feliciana
- Iberville
- Livingston
- Point Coupee
- St. Helena
- St. James
- West Baton Rouge
- West Feliciana
The BR Food Bank "solicit, inventory, and distribute donated products to nearly 100 member agencies that directly serve people facing hard times," which includes food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and more.
In 2022 alone, the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank distributed "10.4 million meals."

In 2022, the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank "distributed more than 12.5 million pounds of food, the equivalent of more than 10.4 million meals..."

MIMOSA's Baton Rouge Peanut Butter Drive 2023
Wait, so why peanut butter again? The BR Food Bank explained that protein-based donations are a "tremendous help because it is so expensive to get protein in your diet.”
Peanut butter is a low-cost, high-return donation, and it's EASY to transport, so it's a win/win.
And this year, Hey Penelope donated the most peanut butter with 362 pounds, winning our first-ever bronze Peanut Trophy!
THANK YOU to everyone who donated this year! With your help, the following was donated to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.

- $495.20 in monetary donations (includes donors helping to cover fees)

MIMOSA's Baton Rouge Peanut Butter Drive — Purchase a $30 Fundraiser Spoon Pendant
MIMOSA offered 50 of these bronze Spoon Pendants for $30 each. Each pendant came on a cotton cord and with a small description card, and holy peanut butter, y'all scooped them up fast this year!
100% of the purchase price of the pendants sold, totaling $1,500, was donated to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.
While it's no longer a fundraising piece, you can still purchase a Spoon Pendant online.

We held our first-ever Peanut Butter Palooza at the MIMOSA Shoppe this year. Customers could donate peanut butter and receive a discount, enjoy all sorts of peanut butter-themed snacks, and enter to win one of our Peanut Pendants! Stay tuned for details about next year's Peanut Butter Palooza!
